Beverly Hills is small enough to walk and complicated enough that almost nobody does. The hotels each have a different arrival lane, Rodeo empties into gridlock at closing, and the residential streets north of Sunset are quiet in a way that makes an idling engine conspicuous. None of that is difficult once you know it. All of it is obvious when a chauffeur does not.

It is not the fifteen-minute drive it is often sold as.
