Burbank, not LAX
Hollywood Burbank is fourteen miles from Pasadena and LAX is twenty-eight. For anyone with a choice of flights, Burbank is the shorter drive, the cheaper transfer and the faster terminal. We will say so even though the LAX run bills more.
Caltech and JPL
Both run visitor access through their own gates and JPL requires the name on the list in advance. We take the visitor details at booking so the chauffeur is not sorting out credentials at the entrance with an executive in the car.
Rose Bowl weeks
Two miles to the stadium, eight minutes on an ordinary day. On game and event days the arroyo access roads close in sequence and the approach changes by the hour. We confirm the live gate the morning of, not the week before.

Pasadena's calendar is set by Caltech, JPL, the Huntington, the Norton Simon and the Rose Bowl, and each of them has its own way of letting a car in. JPL wants the visitor name on a list in advance. Caltech runs its own gate. The Rose Bowl closes its arroyo access roads in a sequence that changes by the hour on an event day. None of that is difficult; all of it is a problem if it gets discovered at the entrance with an executive in the back.
The airport advice is the one thing we will repeat: Hollywood Burbank is 14.2 miles from here and LAX is 27.6. For anyone with a choice of flights, Burbank is the shorter drive, the cheaper transfer and the faster terminal, and we would rather you knew that than book the run that bills more. When a day has several stops, a campus tour, lunch, the Huntington, an hourly chauffeur is the cleaner arrangement. Otherwise it is a flat rate to LAX.
