Distances and drive times are measured with clear roads; Los Angeles at rush hour can add half again as long, and we plan for that rather than hope against it.
Venue fares run a little above the same distance elsewhere. That covers what a venue night actually takes: your chauffeur stages on the approved curb before the crowd moves, then waits out the egress with you. It is fixed for the venue, not a demand multiplier, and it is in the number you see here.

Three things about driving to Malibu.
PCH is the only road
There is no alternate route. A closure at Topanga or Las Flores means waiting, not rerouting. We watch PCH before every Malibu departure and move the pickup earlier when it is shut rather than discovering it mid-drive.
Beach-side addresses
Most of the Colony and the Point Dume beach houses have no turnaround and a driveway that fits one car. We arrive facing the direction of travel and hold on the inland shoulder rather than blocking a single-lane private drive.
Airport timing runs long
Malibu to LAX is 27 miles but the first ten are PCH at 45mph. Forty minutes clear, an hour-plus most afternoons. We plan Malibu departures off the clock, not off the mileage.

Malibu punishes optimism. It is 27.3 miles to LAX, which sounds like a forty-minute drive and frequently is not, because the first stretch is a coastal highway with signals, cyclists and a forty-five limit. There is no parallel route to switch to when it stops moving. Every honest Malibu departure is therefore built on the clock rather than the mileage.
Most Malibu days are not point to point anyway. Soho House, Nobu, the Cross Creek shops, a beach club lunch and back is four stops, and an hourly chauffeur at a three-hour minimum costs less than booking each leg while also solving the problem that none of those places have anywhere to park. When the day is a single airport run, we quote it flat to LAX and watch the highway that morning. For a standing arrangement, a private driver is the usual shape.

How much is a car service to Malibu?
Continental's Malibu flat rates run the same either direction, all-in: Santa Monica $168, Beverly Hills $189, Downtown LA $213, LAX $221, Hollywood Burbank $243. Hourly bookings are $138/hr all-in with a 3-hour minimum, and they are usually the better choice here. PCH adds time, and most Malibu days chain together Soho House, Nobu, the Cross Creek shops and a beach club lunch rather than running point to point.
Do you pick up at Soho House Malibu and Nobu?
Yes. Soho House Malibu uses a private gated entry off PCH, we coordinate with the front gate and stage in the member lot. Nobu Malibu drop-offs go to the valet circle on the south side; we work with the valet team for the smoothest pickup window. Other Malibu standards we run daily: the Carbon Beach hotels, Cross Creek shops, Pepperdine, Paradise Cove, and private residences in Point Dume + Latigo Canyon.
How long does a car ride from LAX to Malibu take?
Off-peak: 45-55 minutes. Friday afternoon or summer-weekend Sunday returns: 75-95 minutes (PCH bottlenecks at the Sunset bend and the Topanga curve). We watch live traffic and recommend a departure time when you book, and if you're flying in, your chauffeur tracks your flight, so a delayed inbound doesn't cost you extra.
Can you drive me up PCH to Santa Barbara or wine country?
Absolutely, long-distance leisure drives are a core hourly use case. Common itineraries: LA → Santa Barbara wineries (Funk Zone or Santa Ynez), LA → Ojai for a weekend, LA → Carpinteria for a property scout. Out-of-county work is hourly with a per-day pre-quote.
